Biography

After starting his career at the Wests Tigers, before moving to the Sharks where he received his first taste of NRL, Sam established himself as a ‘hard-man’ over in the English Super League. He was signed by Hull FC in January 2009 and quickly became a fan favourite, referred to as part of the ‘The Tongan Mafia’, by the Hull faithful. Sam moved back to Australia, signing for the Roosters in 2013. He won a premiership ring in his first season at the Club, after a memorable Grand Final appearance. Sam capped off a memorable year with selection in the New Zealand squad that contested the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. Sam then went on to play 74 first grade games for the Roosters between 2014 & 2016, before deciding to move back over to the Super League, signing with the Catalans Dragons.
